transport planning developments along the border – pilot activities

When selecting pilot regions of the project it was the main aim to analyze those sub- regions that are highly concerned in cross-border transport. Although the project deals with the full range of the Hungarian-Slovak border region (that is more than 650 km long) Project Partners provided deeper analysis with regards to 4 smaller sub-regions that were the followings:

  • Győr – Dunajská Streda
  • Komárom – Komárno
  • Esztergom – Štúrovo
  • Gönc – Košice

Currently existing cross-border transport service lines clearly defined the borders of the selected sub-regions to be analyzed. At the same time it was also important to define future development plans and possibilities, therefore project partners endeavored to survey those border crossing points as well, where currently there is any cross-border public transport service that operates. Such border-crossing points were the bridges between Esztergom and Balážske Ďarmoty in the region of the river Ipoly and Sátoraljaújhely in the area of Košice.

Within the framework of the project we have analyzed strengths and weaknesses of the four pilot regions, while also defined opportunities and threats related to the intensification of cross-border transport relations. On the basis of the analysis we created common cross-border public transport methodology and Action Plan.

Tömegközlekedés ingázóknak

Bővítenék a tömegközlekedési lehetőségeket a magyar-szlovák határ mentén. A közlekedéstudományi intézet szakemberei úgy gondolják: a rendszeresen Szlovákiába vagy Magyarországra ingázókon sokat segítene, ha munkahelyüket nemcsak autóikkal tudnák megközelíteni.
