identification of problems and elaboration of a common methodology;

Situation analysis and the area of the project

With regard to the development of Hungarian-Slovakian cross-border public transport services the identification of current problems and the elaboration of a common research methodology were essential steps.

As the Hungarian-Slovakian border is more than 650 km long, we surveyed sample regions and settlements. These regions incorporate the following districts:

  • Győr – Dunajská Streda
  • Komárom – Komárno
  • Esztergom – Štúrovo
  • Gönc – Košice

Developing a common methodology for the surveys

Considering the fact that KTI Institute for Transport Sciences Non-profit Ltd. (KTI) possesses decades of experience in surveying travel customs and other information serve as basics for transport network development plans, common methodology have been approved by the Partners on the basis of KTI’s recommendations.

Employees of University of Zilina were also involved in this project, as they also have significant experience in this field. Tasks that were needed to be complemented in Slovakia were implemented by them.

In the common methodology we have defined a common questionnaire to be used during the surveys. Furthermore the place, exact time and technical specifications of surveys have been also determined. Certain minor deviations have been certainly accepted, due to the country-specific specialities and local survey traditions of the countries.
